Light Breeds
Arabian [Stallions - Mares] - One of the most popular breeds of horse. Known for their beauty, grace, and versatility. The Arabian excels at any discipline. The coat colours are bay, black, chestnut, and grey. In the real world all believe that no dilute genes exist in the pure bred Arabian. I do accept dilutes in most cases. Patterns: Sabino and Rabicano. The Arabian has a long list for how to name your horse; Pre-2002, "Family" names sometimes used, Prefixes are rare, Limited to 17 characters (including spaces), limited to 3 separate words, No numerals (Roman or Arabic), No Sr. or Jr. - post-2002, Limited to 21 characters (including spaces), limited to 4 separate words, No prefixes or suffixes, No numerals (Roman or Arabic), No Sr. or Jr., no two horses with name spelled exactly alike, No Punctuation, apostrophes, and diacritical markings or symbols, may only use letters A through Z, dash and space.
Some traditions when naming may be based on origin of breeding,

Araloosa - A cross between the Appaloosa and the Arabian. This cross may also be registered as a "pure" Appaloosa. Breeding the Arab to the Appy in what was believed to bring back the lost foundation Appaloosa. These horses are intelligent, and have an abundance of energy, making them excellent endurance candidates. Araloosas may come in any colour and pattern found in the two breeds. Though pinto markings (Sabino [both breeds] and Splash [Appy only]) is highly discouraged along with grey. Appaloosa characteristic must be present: mottle skin, white sclera, and striped hooves. Spotted patterns are ideal, Solid colour with characteristics are accepted.
Naming the Araloosa will fall under the rules of the Appaloosa and/or Arabian. Roaning in the breed may be caused by one to all of the following Rabicano, Varnish (Appy only), Sabino, and true roan (Appy only)

Morab - The Morab is a cross between the Morgan and the Arabian. It is now classified as a breed on it's own. They wanted to combined the elegant and endurance of the Arabian, and the temperament and substance of the Morgan. The Morab must have at least 1/4 or 25% of either breed at all times. They come in an array of colours.
Common:
Grey (mostly from the Arabian as this is very rare in Morgans)
Bay (found in both breeds)
Chestnut with or without flaxen manes and/or tails (found in both breeds)
Palomino (from the Morgan)
Buckskin (from the Morgan)
Uncommon:
Black (found in both breeds)
Smoky Black (from the Morgan)
Brown (found in both breeds)
Smoky Brown (from the Morgan)
Perlino, Cremello, Smoky Cream, Smoky Brown Cream are very specific. Both parents must be single or double cream dilute. Breeding single cream to single cream may produce a double dilute only 20% of the time. Double cream to single cream is 50% chance for double cream. Lucky for us these are models and carry a 100% possibility ^.^
Rare
Dun (All base colors - from a single Morgan line)
Silver (this colour is uncommon in Morgans but gaining popularity).
Patterns (loud white pinto pattern were banned between 1962-1996 in the Morgan, and undesired in the Arabian, breeders stay clear of loud pinto believing them to be impure)
Sabino (very common in both breeds)
Splash White (becoming common in Morgans, and there may be some unclassified Morabs)
Frame Overo (rare in the Morgan possibly extinct)
Rabicano (uncommon in both breeds)
True roan (Sadly thought to be extinct in real Morgans, and few model roans can be found)
Combinations of dilutes and patterns are possible.
Pearl is either not there or undiscovered (this colour if there would most likely come from the Morgan as the Arabians are said to not carry ANY dilute genes). Champagne, Tobiano pinto pattern, and Appaloosa pattern is not found in either breed. There is a new possible dilute in the Morgan but currently nothing it known or the cause. All horses that display the usually color are HIGHLY inbreed and may play a factors

Morgan - One of America's oldest breeds, and Vermont's state horse. Morgans are a blend of power, grace, and beauty. These are versatile horses that can do anything. From western to English to ranch work to driving. Ask a Morgan and it'll try it's hardest to do it. They come in many colours, please see Morab (above) for list.. When naming, the Morgan has a limit of 25 Characters (including spaces, prefix, letters, and punctuation marks), no exact duplicate name or easily confused similar names already used, No "Second," "Third," or "Jr," etc, No Numerical symbols.

Moroccan Barb - Originated in North Africa, and is consider one of the oldest breeds of domestic horses. Traditional colour are Grey, Bay, Black and Chestnut.. I'm unsure of any other colours. I do have a palomino sabino but I don't know where the colour comes from. I also don't know any naming rules or guidelines. Both of mine are named in Arabic.
~@~
National Show Horse - Is a cross between the Arabian and the American Saddlebred with a minimum of 25% and a maximum of 99% Arabian blood May be any colour/pattern found in the Arabian and ASB. Names have a limit of 25 letters including spaces. No single letter names.

Pinto Part Arabian - Can be any pure or part Arabian with pinto markings. The term "Pintabian" was developed to promote one farms breeding stock so I prefer not to define my Pinto Arabian has such. I only have this here for horses that I don't know where the Pinto marking comes from or has too much Arabian blood to be registered with their "breed" (ei Morgan x Arab that's 87.5% or more of either)
[note: any Arab to Paint breeding with 87.5% or less of either, can be found with Quarabs, any Arab x ASB breeding can be found under NSH]
~@~
Quarab - A cross between the Arabian and Quarter Horse or Paint Horse. Must not have 7/8 or 87.5% of either breed The sky's the limited on possible colours;

Black (found in both breeds)
Bay (found in both breeds)
Chestnut with or without flaxen manes and/or tails (found in both breeds)
Brown (found in both breeds)
Palomino (from the QH or Paint)
Buckskin (from the QH or Paint)
Smoky Black (from the QH or Paint)
Smoky Brown (from the QH or Paint)
Dun (All base colors - from the QH or Paint)
Silver (All base colours- this colour is rare, from the QH or Paint).
Pearl [All base colour - this colour is rare, from the QH or Paint]
Champagne [All base colours - from the QH or Paint]
Until 2004 any dilute coat colour that made a QH look "white" [double creams, cream champagne, pearl cream] were not accepted by AQHA. Also many of the dilutes found are not registered as such. Champagnes, Dun+Cream and Silvers are still being misidentified, and registered as another colour.
Patterns (loud white pinto pattern were banned by the AQHA until 2004, and undesired in the Arabian, breeders stay clear of loud pinto believing them to be impure)
Sabino (very common in all breeds)
Splash White (from the QH or Paint)
Frame Overo (from the QH or Paint)
Tobiano [from the Paint]
Rabicano [uncommon in all breeds]
True roan [from the QH or Paint]
Althought Appaloosa colour is within the Quarter Horse [hidden as roan or grey] the Quarab doesn't allow Appaloosa patterns.
Names have a limit of 22 characters including letters and spaces. No punctuation marks or numbers. No names that are a like but spelled differently (I.E. Dark Music and Darq Musiq)
Some traditions when naming may be based on origin of breeding,
- Two word names including a descriptive adjective and a noun for England-bred Arabians
- Usually have longer Arabic names w/ 2-3 words, sometime use Ibn (son of), bint (daughter of), bint bint (granddaughter of) for Egyptian-bred Arabian
- One word names in native language, named with first letter of dam's name for Poland-bred Arabians
- One word names in native language, named start with first letter of dam's name for Russian-bred Arabian
- One word names in native language for Spain-bred Arabians
