Akhal Teke - Are like the greyhound of the horse world. Sleek build, thin skin, and sparse mare and tail (some have no forelock). They come in a small range of colours: black, bay, chestnut, smoky black, buckskin, palomino, smoky cream, perlino, cremello, and grey. There is a debate on the dun gene existing within the breed, most believe the gene is present visually, but this could have no basis on genetic colour. True roan (dk head and points) is thought not to be in the purebred AT. Silver, Pearl, and Champagne is unknown to me if they exist in the AT. There is only two known patterns: Sabino and Rabicano. AT almost always have a metallic shimmer to their coats. When naming the Akhal Teke has a Limited to 20 characters (including spaces), punctuation, diacritical markings, nicknames/barn names may not be used, No more than three sections allowed, no name may be alphabetical duplicate to one already registered, suffix of Sr. or Jr are prohibited. Traditional, colts are named using the first letter of the sire's name, and fillys are named using the first letter of the dam's name. Usually named in Russian or Turkmene.
